Roger de Sa’s five-year tenure in charge of Bidvest Wits came to an abrupt end on Monday when the club announced in a statement that they have parted ways with the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper.
De Sa doubled up as the club coach and chief executive over the previous two seasons, a position that has since been taken over by Jose Ferreira who joined Wits two months ago from SuperSport United.
"Wits Football Club hereby wish to announce that it has parted ways with Head Coach, Roger de Sa, with immediate effect. A full press release will be issued in the next few days in this regard,” the club said.
The 2002-03 PSL Coach of the Season will be replaced by his long-time assistant and ex-Bafana defender Eric Tinkler who will be assisted by Ashley Makhanya.
De Sa’s era saw a youthful Wits outfit reach the Telkom Knockout final last season following up on a good showing which saw him lead them to their first domestic trophy in 15 years, the 2010 Nedbank Cup title.
