Kadi nets brace in win
South African striker Calvin Kadi scored twice as his Greek side Veria thumped Ethnikos Asteras 5-0 keep their promotion hopes alive.
Kadi took his tally for the season to nine goals in 20 starts, a fine return in his first campaign in Greece following a move from BidVest Wits at the end of last season.
Veria are now in the second automatic promotion place, three points behind leaders Panthrakikos, but with a game in hand.
Kadi has been a major inspiration for them this season have been handed the central striker role at the club by coach Dimitrios Kalaitzides.
It is a far cry from his time spent on loan in Portugal in the last campaign, when he was sent out to play on the wing for Portimonense, managing just a single goal in 23 appearances.
That does not tell the full story of his season though, he was a popular figure at the club, where fans appreciated his work-ethic.
The 24-year-old is easily the top-scoring South African in Europe this season, with Keaghan Jacobs at Scottish second division side Livingston the next highest with five goals. Bradley Grobler (Goztepe, Turkey) and Daylon Claasen (Lierse, Belgium) have four each.
