Algeria invite Inter’s Ishak Belfodil
Algeria coach Vahid Halilhodzic has invited Inter Milan striker Ishak Belfodil for the Fennec Foxes friendly match against Guinea on August 14 at the Mustapha Tchaker in Blida.
The 21-year-old player will be joining the Algerian team for the first time after an initial attempt by the Algerian FA to bring him on board ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations failed.
Belfodil, who left Parma for the Nerazzurri early this month, is a rising star whom Algerian officials had been longing to snaffle from France, who had promised him a place in the national team after representing the country in the junior categories.
Belfodil was born in Algeria but also holds French nationality.
Algeria have qualified for the third round of the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifying but will wrap up the second round against already eliminated Mali on September 9.
Halilhodzic says playing Guinea in a friendly will help his side prepare for the above meeting.
