Drogba to make return against Mexico

Ivory Coast coach Sabri Lamouchi says he will likely field his captain Didier Drogba for their international friendly against Mexico on August 14.

The Galatasaray forward has not played with the Elephants after their poor showing at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

The French coach has attributed Drogba’s absence to declining form, which the former Chelsea talisman has repeatedly acknowledged, but with promises to work hard to win back his place within the outfit.

Ivory Coast have qualified to the final stage of the 2014 World Cup qualifying and will use the meeting against Mexico to fine tune for their World Cup qualifier against Morocco.

The Mexico – Ivory Coast friendly will hold at the MetLife Stadium in New York.

The list of players to take part in the above encounter will be released on August 8, according to Lamouchi.
