Trio return from loan to Ajax squad

Ajax Cape Town will be taking back three players they loaned out last season and returning them to the first team squad for pre-season preparations.

But two of their other loanees have not had their contracts renewed and will be allowed to join a club of their choice for the upcoming campaign.

Cole Alexander is back at the club after a spell at fellow PSL outfit Chippa United last season, where he played regularly at the beginning of the campaign but lost his place in the squad for the second half of the season.

Nathan Gertse and the striker George Akpabio return from neighbours Vasco da Gama of the National First Division.

Nigerian-born Akpabio was in a rich vein of goal scoring form last season although Vasco missed out of the Absa Premiership promotion-relegation play-offs.

Leaving the club are Brandon-Lee Adams and Sici Selembe who also spent last season on loan to Vasco. Both are 22-year-old midfielders.

Selembe was bought from Witbank spurs in 2011 and scored o his debut against SuperSport United in the MTN8 quarterfinals but played just twice more after that as he career failed to take off.

They are no longer in Ajax’s future plans

Ajax players return to pre-season training on June 24.
