Mena lose Bulus

Niger coach Gernot Rohr announced on Friday that his defender Jimmy Bulus of Algerian club NA Hussein Dey had pulled out of his squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations following an arm injury.

The 25-year-old will undergo a surgery next week and will not be able to recovery before kickoff, according to the German manager.

Bulus’ withdrawal comes as a big blow to the Mena, who are returning for their second Afcon and will be opening against 2012 bronze winners Mali on January 20 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

The West Africans lost all their three games in their first continental appearance last January at the Gabon / Equatorial Guinea 2012, but officials in Niamey say they have corrected their mistakes and are confident their team will put out a better showing in South Africa.
