Senegal releases shortlist for coach

Senegal football federation (FSF) on Monday submitted a five-man shortlist of coaches selected from a long list of more than 50 candidates who applied for the job of the national team coach.

The list, which has been handed to the Ministry of Sports for deliberation, includes Aliou Cisse from Senegal, Frenchmen Jacques Santini and Alain Giresse, German manager Walker Sinke and former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson from Sweden.

Officials in Dakar said the successful candidate would be announced before the end of December after consultations between the FA and the Ministry.

Senegal have been without a coach since October following the dismissal of Joseph Koto who failed to qualify the Teranga Lions to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

The FA boss Augustin Senghor says the main objective of the incoming coach will be to book a place for the outfit at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
