Broos wants Senegal job
Belgian football manager Hugo Broos has applied to coach Senegal, after the football federation called for applications for the post in October following the dismissal of Joseph Koto for failing to qualify the Teranga Lions to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
“I have applied for the Senegal job because I believe the outfit has the potential to qualify for the 2014 World Cup,” Broos told Senegal News Agency, APS, on Thursday.
“I’m very ambitious and my experience in international football allows me to have sufficient knowledge of Senegal football and its players,” the 60-year-old former Anderlecht, Trabzonspor and Zulte Waregem coach said.
Officials in Dakar say more than a dozen local and foreign coaches have applied for the job.
Senegal are currently leaders of Group I with four points ahead of Uganda, Angola and Liberia in the 2014 World Cup qualifying.
