Ayew and Dhaoaudi strike in France

Goals from Ghanaian Jordan Ayew and Tunisia's Zouhaier Dhaoaudi sounded victory for their teams in the French Ligue 1 over the weekend.

Ayew headed the ball in the second-half to shoot Marseille to joint-top of the table after they beat Lille 1-0. Evian's Dhaoaudi scored the only goal in their 1-0 win over Rennes.

In the English Premier League a last-minute strike from Cameroonian Sebastien Bassong handed Norwich City a 1-1 draw against Everton.

AC Milan beat Juventus 1-0 thanks to Ghanaian Kevin Prince Boateng's brilliant support up front in Italy's Serie A. Sterling defence by Guinean Kevin Constant also kept Juve's attackers at bay.

Cameroon international centre-back Bassong claimed a dramatic late equaliser to give Norwich a 1-1 draw at Everton. The former Tottenham Hotspur player struck in the 90th minute, heading home a deep Javier Garrido free-kick at the back post.

Sessegnon's goal in his second game running proved in vain as Sunderland fell 4-2 at home to West Bromwich Albion. The Beninese attacking midfielder got on the score-sheet in the 87th minute, slamming home a rebound from close range, only for Marc-Antoine Fortune to reply immediately for the visitors' success.

JORDAN AYEW (Marseille)

Ghanaian international Ayew's second-half strike drew Marseille level with arch-rivals Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the table. Ayew, who had an earlier goal ruled offside, headed in Mathieu Valbuena's cross on 46 minutes to hand Marseille a 1-0 victory over Lille.

Tunisian winger Dhaouadi was the hero for Evian, netting the only goal in their 1-0 win at Rennes that lifted them out of the relegation zone. Dhaouadi replaced Youssef Adnane on 76 minutes and scored the winner three minutes later as he fired home from Ivory Coast midfielder Brice Dja Djedje's cut-back.

Togolese goalkeeper Agassa kept a fourth clean sheet of the season for Reims, ending the promoted side's three-match losing streak, as they secured a point after a goalless draw at home to Brest.

KARIM MATMOUR (Eintracht Frankfurt)

The Algeria midfielder was sent off three minutes from time in Frankfurt's 1-1 Bundesliga draw in Gelsenkirchen against Schalke 04, who reached the Champions League knock-out phase.

The 27-year-old fouled Schalke captain Benedikt Hoewedes, then earned a second yellow for bringing down Roman Neustaedter.

Congo midfielder Makiadi was a strong presence in defence and attack as Freiburg warmed-up for Wednesday's visit of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga with a 3-0 win over VfB Stuttgart.

Ghana's Boateng was a lively element in AC Milan's conquest of champions and leaders Juventus, combining well with Robinho and Stephan El Shaarawy up front as the Rossoneri secured a 1-0 win from a controversial Robinho penalty – though Boateng was still off target with his few shooting opportunities.

For the first time this season Juventus were bossed from start to finish by a committed Milan side and Ghanaian Kwadwo Asamoah was one of several players whose normal, solid game was thrown off kilter.

Despite his best efforts to score from the left he was substituted midway through the second half.

Constant lived up to his name with solid cover at the back throughout and helping stop numerous Juve attacks. The Guinean has made the left back position his own and, thanks to his movement up the left, gives the Rossoneri further attacking options.

MANUCHO (Valladolid)

Valladolid's former Manchester United striker Manucho scored the only goal of the game of his side's 1-0 win over Granada.

The Angolan international powered home his fourth of the season with a second-half winner that puts his side up to ninth position.
