Manga hurts knee

Gabon international and Lorient centre back Ecuele Manga will be sidelined for about six months following a knee injury sustained during his side’s 2-2 clash against Paris Saint Germain in the first match day of the French Ligue 1, according to a statement from his club on Wednesday

The 24-year-old former Bordeaux player was pulled off during the encounter after a collision with a striker, which doctors say caused ruptures of knee ligaments.

“The last MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging) conducted this afternoon unfortunately confirms the complete rupture of the medial collateral ligament and anterior cruciate ligament. Bruno Ecuele Manga will soon undergo surgery,” the statement said, adding that it could keep the player off the pitch for at least six months.

Manga was a member of the Gabon 2012 Africa Cup of Nations squad they co-hosted alongside Equatorial Guinea, with the Panthers crashing out in the quarterfinals against Mali.
