Keita blasts Guardiola
Former Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita, who joined Chinese club Dalian Aerbin last month, has voiced hard words for his ex manager at Camp Nou Pep Guardiola, terming the coach’s praises on him as hypocritical.
During the Mali international’s four seasons at the club, Guardiola never relented in publicly extolling Keita as a great player.
“Guardiola was always praising me in the media. And because of the good things he was saying about me I was always thinking everything would be fine for me at Camp Nou,” Keita said.
“However, I was not having sufficient playing time. I couldn’t understand that. I would have preferred him not to be using those sweet words on me. They were kind of hypocritical and I told him face to face how I was feeling,” he said.
Keita, 32, joined Barca from Sevilla, where he spent one season after leaving French Ligue 1 side Lens in 2007.
Mali will host Botswana early next month during the first leg of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final qualifying round. The return leg games are slated for mid October.
