Togo looks to Adebayor again

Togo former captain Emmanuel Adebayor has been called up once more by coach Didier Six for the team’s preparatory friendly match against Senegal set for August 15 in Metz, France.

The Tottenham forward had spurned earlier invitations to participate in Togo’s encounters in the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaigns, after denouncing the football federation’s “lack of ambition and disorganisation”.

The Sparrow Hawks intend to fine tune against the Teranga Lions ahead of the forthcoming final round of the 2013 Afcon qualifying slated for early September.

“This friendly will help us to put house in order ahead of the two-legged clash against Gabon in September and October as we hope to book a place at the South Africa 2013,” Togo FA secretary general Yvette Klussey said in Lome.

“We feel Senegal are strong enough to help us test our current form,” he said.

Senegal will be facing Africa’s number one team Ivory Coast in the final qualifying round.

It is yet unclear whether Adebayor will put up appearance for the friendly meeting.
