Calls for Lions coach intensify
A day after the end of the 2014 FIFA World Cup second round qualifying, a number of personalities and associations in Senegal called on the football federation to confirm caretaker coach Joseph Koto, who led the Teranga Lions to top Group J with four points.
The association of home-based coaches in Senegal signed a memorandum on Monday inviting the FA to shun its intension of hiring a foreign coach and confirm Koto as soon as possible.
The former assistant coach was promoted to temporarily head the outfit after the dismissal of Amara Traore and the withdrawal of Frenchman Pierre Lechantre.
Koto has led the team to three victories and a draw, and says he has accomplished his mission as a caretaker and now waiting for a confirmation from his employers.
The FA boss Augustin Senghor last week said his collaborators were highly impressed with the job of the interim coach and promised to meet with his staff to seriously discuss the future of Koto after the second round of the qualifiers, which ended on Sunday.
