Madrid join race for Younès Belhanda

Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid have joined Arsenal, Paris Saint Germain and Juventus in the chase for Montpellier winger and midfielder Younès Belhanda, 22, who was groomed at the French club’s youth academy and remains one of the best products of the facility.

Scouts from El Bernabéu supervised the Morocco international during his side’s encounter against Nancy on Saturday in the 28th round of the French Ligue 1, according to Spanish sports daily Gazetta dello Sport.

Belhanda was promoted to Montpellier’s main team in 2009 following his brilliance and success in the youth club competitions and reserve team.

Born in Avignon of Moroccan parents, Belhanda represented France two years ago in the U20 category but switched allegiance to play for the Lions of the Atlas in 2010.

He was a member of the Moroccan team that crashed out of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in the group stage.
