Eritrea and Kenya reach semifinals

A 58th-minute strike by Meron Hebteslus handed Eritrea a 1-0 victory over Kenya at the Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) Under-20 Championships in Asmara Eritrea on Monday.

Earlier on, second-half substitute Lebele Jerome put Tanzania Mainland ahead in the 49th minute to secure their victory by a solitary goal over Sudan in the other Group A encounter. However this late charge was not enough for Tanzania Mainland to progress to the semifinals.

Eritrea top the group with 10 points. Kenya follow with seven points, Tanzania Mainland four, Sudan three and Somali just one point. Therefore Eritrea and Kenya will join defending champions Uganda and Rwanda in the last four.
