Write Nigeria off at your own peril - Mikel

John Obi Mikel has warned Africa Cup of Nations favourites, Cote d'Ivoire ahead of their quarterfinal clash in Rustenburg this Sunday.

The 25-year-old Chelsea midfielder acknowledged that facing the Ivoriens will be "tough and exciting."

But the ex-FC Lyn-Oslo star said the Super Eagles are capable of defeating the Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire.

"Those writing off Nigeria are doing so at their peril. It is a knockout match and we can definitely win. The media keep reminding us that the Ivory Coast are unbeatable but we shall see (on Sunday).

"We know that playing against the Ivory Coast is going to be tough and exciting because some of our opponents are my friends, especially Didier Drogba," said Mikel.

Mikel was named the Samsung Fair Player of the Match after Nigeria defeated Ethiopia 2-0 in Rustenburg on Tuesday.
