Zambia ready for Afcon action

BBC African Footballer of the Year and Chipolopolo skipper Chris Katongo says the reigning and defending African champions have enjoyed a successful camp as they prepare for the kick off of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Katongo says Chipolopolo will take every game as it comes and play every opponent without underrating or fearing them.

The best player of the 2012 Africa Cup told fazfootball.com at the Zambia team hotel in Nelspruit/Mbombela that every player was focused on the assignment.

"We are ready. We are relaxed and we have no pressure. We have been at this level before and we know that every game is tough. But we have prepared well and have been enjoying ourselves in every training session," Katongo said adding: "We will be ready for any team and we won't say this is a big team or this is a small team. We will play according to the instructions of the coach. We have no pressure; we're just going do our job."

Chipolopolo was this morning visited by the CAF delegation for the formal welcome to the 2013 Nations Cup which kicks off Saturday when hosts South Africa take on debutants Cape Verde at the National Stadium in Johannesburg.

Zambia opens her title defence against Ethiopia on Monday before taking on Nigeria on the 25th. Chipolopolo complete Group C fixtures against Burkina Faso on 29th January. Zambia will play all her group matches at Mbombela with the possibility of staying on at the same venue for the knock out rounds should Chipolopolo win her group.
