Burkina Faso, Niger to play friendly

Burkina Faso and Niger are to play a friendly in Nelspruit on Thursday, finalising their preparations for the African Nations Cup finals.

Niger, who have been in Port Elizabeth since the weekend, will travel to the Mbombela Stadium for the game.

Burkina Faso left Ouagadougou last week for the tournament without playing as single warm-up international, in contrast to most of the other finalists at the tournament.

“It gives us now a good chance to try and implement the tactical and technical stuff that we have been working on in our training,” coach Paul Put told reporters.

They are also trying to arrange a match with Orlando Pirates before their first game on Monday against Nigeria in Group C, which is being played in Nelspruit.

Niger play their first Group B game on Sunday against Mali in Port Elizabeth.
