Zambia names final Afcon squad



African champion coach Herve Renard has named his final 23-man squad for the defence of the title Zambia won in February 2012.

Renard left out Chintu Kampamba, Salulani Phiri and Shadreck Malambo on the list submitted to the Confederation of African Football (Caf) on Tuesday.

On Monday, goalkeeper Danny Munyau replaced Kalililo Kakonje on the squad after the latter picked up an injury in training.

Renard has taken the Chipolopolo through intensive training sessions and used international friendly matches against Tanzania, Angola and Morocco to select the final 23 players.

On 12th January the African Coach of the year will further assess his charges in an international friendly match against Norway at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Zambia opens her title defence against Ethiopia on 21st January before taking on Nigeria on the 25th and Burkina Faso on the 29th at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
