Mulenga can play for Zambia - FAZ

Discarded Zambia international Clifford Mulenga is eligible for selection to the national team despite his expulsion from the team earlier this year, Zambian officials have confirmed.

Mulenga was sent home after breaking curfew at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in January and missed out the glory of Zambian success in the tournament.

He has since been ignored by the Zambians, through the mid-year World Cup qualifiers and the 2013 Nations Cup qualifiers.

He was also not called up for the midweek friendly in Johannesburg against South Africa, although would not have been able to play because he is injured.

Football Association of Zambia general secretary George Kasengele says there is no ban on Mulenga being selected and the sole decision rests with the coach Herve Renard.

Recently the Chipolopolo Soccer Fans’ Association, a supporters’ body, called on Renard to give Mulenga a second chance in the squad yeas. He was expelled after Zambia’s win over Sudan in the 2012 quarterfinals in Equatorial Guinea.

The CSFA said the Zambian team needed more options in front of goal which Mulenga gives.
