Aubameyang out for Niger-Gabon clash
Gabon’s top striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang of French Ligue 1 outfit Saint Etienne will miss the Panthers 2014 World Cup qualifying clash against Niger on June 2 in Niamey.
Coach Paolo Duarte told reporters in Libreville on Wednesday that the 22-year-old rising star had joined his list of injured players ahead of the upcoming hostilities.
“Pierre called me to say he would not be available for the Niger match due to injuries. He said his doctor had asked him take at least 15 days of rest,” Duarte said.
Nice duo Eric Mouloungui and Palun Lloyd, Ivorian-born Brou Apanga of Brest and home-based Cedric Moubamba have also been declared unfit for the Niamey meeting.
The Panthers will hold training camp from May 24 to June 10 and will host Burkina Faso in Libreville on June 9 in the World Cup qualifiers second games.
