We have learnt our lesson – Mongala

SuperSport.com caught up with Bloemfontein Celtic and Botswana winger Phenyo Mongala shortly after his side’s 2-1 defeat to Mali in their final 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Group D clash on Thursday.

What was your Nations Cup experience like?

“We have disappointed but we have learnt our lesson.”

Do you feel a better player after competing face-to-face with cream of African Football?

“Yes, I’ve grown as a player and the Botswana team has also grown. Obviously we disappointed as team, our nation was expected but we will grow stronger from this experience and do better in our next campaign.”

And you think you have do better in future, qualify again for the 2013 African Nations Cup and even the next World Cup in Brazil?

“Of course, yes, we are looking forward to qualifying for a second time for the Nations Cup. We have our eye on the World Cup as well but it is also important to take it all one game at a time.”

And now it’s back to Bloemfontein?

“Yes I’m heading off back to my club and looking forward to doing well there in the coming months.”
