Afcon tune up - Bafana aim to trip Stars

There is an ambush looming for the Black Stars who are among the favourites for the African title. It is on Sunday and comes in form of a depleted but bitter Bafana Bafana side seeking to generate some home cooked Schadenfreude.

They aim to trip the Black Stars ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The match is scheduled for the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Phokeng.

South Africa coming of a 1-1 draw with a sputtering Zambia on Wednesday, seems to be finally finding her long lost form. She is playing effortlessly.

A beaming Majoro is relishing the encounter saying “Ghana is one of the strongest teams on the continent, and playing them will demand a lot from the players but judging by our preparations we are confident we will do well. We know the Ghanaian players so we know what to expect but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy. They are a good team, but we will do our best.”

Not so for midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane who missed training on Thursday after being stretchered off against Zambia in the second half. The West Africans too have had injuries. Poacher Gyan will be out as Ghana tries to retool her midfield gutted first by Essien’s injury and now Prince Boateng’s retirement.

20,000 tickets have been issued for the clash.
