Chiefs reclaim top spot



A goal seven minutes from time from Bernard Parker saw kaizer Chiefs register a 2-1 win overFree State Stars in an Absa Premiership match at FNB stadium on Saturday night.

Fikru-Teferrq Lemessa gave Stars the lead five minutes into the second stanza, but a goal from Reneilwe Letsholonyane in the 77th minute and a goal from Parker in the 83rd handed the Amakhosi the come from behind win.

Thefirst 45 saw both teams feeling each other out as neither could create a decent opening on goal in the early stages.

The first real chance came in the 20th minute when Tsepo Masilela let fly ith a powerful strike, but his effort went narrowly wide.

Five minutes later and Stars had a sight on goal from close range, but Luyolo Nomandela shot wide as well.

Kingston Nkhatha should have opened the scoring four minutes from halftime, but he headed wide from close range and the goal at his mercy.

The second 45 saw Stars start a lot brighter and they soon took the lead through a Fikru-Teferra Lemessa goal, the Free State man producing a clinical finish from the edge of the box.

After that Chiefs took control of the game and applied pressure on the Stars goal.

The pressure finally paid off in the 77th minute when Letsholonyane evened up matters with a well worked goal.

Seven minutes from time Parker stole the show with the winner from an expertly struck free-kick to seal three points for the Amakhosi.
