Leopards to play in four-team tourney

Black Leopards are again hoping to feature in a four-team tournament hosted by Mamelodi Sundowns next month.

This was confirmed to supersport.com by club spokesman Tendani Thidiela, who says the event will be held at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, possibly on January 26 and 27.

It is a repeat of a tournament staged last year that featured the two PSL clubs, as well as Power Dynamos of Zambia and Zimbabwean side CAPS United.

“We will most probably play in that tournament,” Thidiela says. “We played last year and it was excellent preparation for us. The teams are all very strong and it is in Polokwane so there is next to no disruption to our training schedule.

“I don’t think the two other sides from outside South Africa have been finalised yet, but whoever they are they will be strong opposition.”

Sundowns have also confirmed the event, but have not yet made the overseas clubs known – though it is thought they are in talks with Zimbabwean champions Dynamos to fill one of the slots.
