Birds fans call for coach to go
Moroka Swallows fans called for coach Zeca Marques to resign after the side lost 3-1 to SuperSport United in Dobsonville on Friday, their fourth successive loss in the Absa Premiership.
As Marques stepped up to the pitch to be interviewed after the game the crowd's chants of "go, go, go" grew louder.
Swallows have not won a league game in seven matches, with just two draws in that period. Marques explained it was always the coach that got the blame for poor results.
"The players make the mistakes [and] the coaches get the blame, where do you draw the line?" Marques said amid the chanting.
"That's how football goes. When things don't go well the coach gets the blame, when you win things players get the credit."
He said he knew this when he took the job and understood the reaction from the fans.
"I'd feel the same as them to be honest... they want the best for the club, and so do I. They don't see the game we do, they don't analyse the game like we do. It's all about results, at the end of the day we lost 3-1 and the result wasn't there."
