Ajax duo seek to get fit in time for Chiefs

Ajax Cape Town coach Jan Pruijn says the 10-day break without a game will help the club’s bid to get players back from injury.

Both Bradley Grobler and Koen van de Laak could be in contention for the trip to Polokwane where Ajax face league leaders Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday night.

“They will have had more time to get fit and will hopefully be able to make the trip,” added Pruijn.

Both players have knee problems and have missed the club’s last matches.

The coach said Ajax had gone about their business as usual this week, keeping their schedule to prepare against Chiefs.

They will travel to Monday for the match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday.

“Chiefs are obviously going to be a strong opponent but that doesn’t change the way we do things,” added Pruijn.

Ajax have won just twice under Pruijn this season, but got a lift last Friday when they won the derby against Chippa United 3-2 at the Cape Town Stadium.

“Going to Chiefs is not going to be easy and we must expect that Chiefs will come at us. But we will take the positives from the Chippa game to the match against Chiefs,” he added.
