We should have won - Hunt
SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt believes his side failed to take their chances and should have easily beaten Bidvest Wits in their Premiership clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday afternoon.
Having gone ahead early in the second half, the Pretoria outfit conceded from a set-piece and instead had to settle for a 1-1 draw against the Students.
"We should have won the game. You have to win this type of game," Hunt said after the match.
"I thought we were better and I thought we should have won.
"We could have played with eight players and we still should have won."
Despite receiving two second half red cards and ending the encounter with nine men on the field, Hunt said United should have made light work of the Wits side, which Hunt believes failed to turn out for a competitive fixture.
"To be honest, Wits didn't come to play, they sat back, and to be fair, we tried to made a game of it and I thought we should have scored in the first half," Hunt said.
Saturday's draw was Matsatsantsa's seventh of the season from their first eight fixtures and although the team remained unbeaten, Hunt said he was frustrated with his side's early league results.
"We play like this every week. We should win, but we don't," he said.
"We are better than this, we should be five or six points better at this stage.
"There's not even a debate. But we are not and I am just frustrated."
With another disappointing result for Hunt's men, the United boss said it was back to the drawing board for the team who find themselves eighth in the league standings.
"We have to go back to training, try and get a team ready for the weekend, start again and work on our shape," he said.
"We start again. It hasn't changed. We have to work on the strikers, the wide play and the back four.
"We've got what we've got. I believe in my players and you just have to keep going."
In Saturday's other results, hosts Ajax Cape Town held Mamelodi Sundowns to a goalless draw, Platinum Stars climbed to second on the log with a 4-0 thrashing of Free State Stars in Rustenburg and Golden Arrows comfortably beat league newcomers Chippa United 2-0 in KwaMashu.
