Sundowns committed to releasing duo

Mamelodi Sundowns said they are committed to releasing defender Siyanda Xulu and striker Nyasha Mushekwi for overseas moves - provided the club receives a serious offer for the players.

The club was responding to reports in the media that Sundowns are refusing to release the players.

Club spokesperson Kabelo Mosito said that the club had received an offer from Russian club Rostov for Xulu, which was actually half of what the club had paid for the player, while a German team, Greuther Furth, who have just been promoted to the Bundesliga, had refused to put an offer in writing for the services of Mushekwi, insisting that he should travel to Germany for trials.".

"Both these players are not on transfer, and are an integral part of the coach's plans. Nyasha has been among the leading goal-scorers in the PSL for the past two seasons. Added to this, our league championship has just started, and we are playing in the semifinals of the MTN8. " said Mosito.

He pointed out that the club had signed cover defence players, so it would not be a problem for Xulu to leave. The club also signed additional strikers, so it would also not be a problem to release Nyasha.,

"No club in the world would release such a valuable players without a firm offer on the table. Also, there is an offer on the table from a UK club for Nyasha, and they are prepared to fly out here to have a final look over him, and all the German club has to do is match or beat that offer and they can have the player."
