Mdledle signs for SuperSport United
Defender Innocent Mdledle has joined SuperSport United on a two-year deal after he was was released by cross-town rivals Mamelodi Sundowns earlier this week.
The Matatiele-born player, who had a blossoming career at Orlando Pirates before heading to Chloorkop, will be unveiled by Matsatsantsa on Thursday in Pretoria, along with other new signings like George Maluleka.
Mdledle's story was an incredible tale of instant success when he first burst onto the professional football scene with Pirates. He became one of the most consistent performers in the PSL since his debut in 2005 and it was that impression that attracted Sundowns. But things were never quite the same for the left-back defender in Chloorkop and his departure was imminent.
When he was handed his clearance this week, SuperSport did not waste time as they offered him a two-year deal.
Prior to Pirates, he played in the lower leagues for then People's Bank Spurs (now Witbank Spurs) in the Vodacom League. Mdledle's consistent hard work saw him accumulate 26 appearances in his maiden season.
The tough-as-nails defender possesses a no-nonsense image and instills fear in opposing forwards. Coach Gavin Hunt will hope the player still has a lot of fire in his belly to help the club in their quest for domestic silverware.
