SuperSport sign Fransman

SuperSport United has moved swiftly to replace the void left by the departure of Morgan Gould by signing Bafana Bafana international defender Bevan Fransman from Israeli-side Hapoel Tel Aviv.

United, fresh off their Nedbank Cup victory over Mamelodi Sundowns, are determined to reinforce their team for another strong local campaign as well as an extended run in the Confederation Cup. Fransman has been plying his trade in Israel for the past four years and has helped his teams, Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Tel Aviv, finish in the top three league positions on three occasions.

He has also played in the Europa League for three years and in the Uefa Champions League for a season with matches against top sides such as Benfica, Schalke, Galatasaray, Lyon and PSV Eindhoven. He worked under coach Lothar Mattheus and is looking forward to re-uniting with coach Gavin Hunt, whom he played under at Moroka Swallows.

Fransman said: “I am delighted to be back in South Africa and to be joining an ambitious and professional outfit like SuperSport United is a huge motivation for me. I want to help them add to their impressive trophy haul of the past few years.”

United beat off a host of local and international clubs vying for Fransman’s signature. Hunt expressed his delight at the acquisition, stating "I have worked with Bevan for some time and he has all the leadership and playing qualities that we want and look for in this club.

“It was important for us to replace Morgan with a strong leader on and off the field and in Bevan I know we have a player with all the right ingredients”.

Fransman has signed a three year deal with Matsatsantsa.
