Trio depart, Stigga must still decide
BidVest Wits have allowed Uganda international defender Timothy Batabaire and the Brazilian duo of David Oliviera and Fabrice Rodrigues to leave at the end of their contracts.
But the club must yet make a decision on the future for ex-Bafana Bafana international Stanton Fredericks, who is also at the end of his contract.
Coach Roger de Sa said a decision would only be made when the club returned for pre-season preparations near the end of June.
”I’d like him to play one more season where he can help us but that depends on him and how his body feels. He’ll come back with a decision after the break. If he doesn’t, he’ll help us with the youth coaching. He’s already been on some coaching courses,” De Sa explained.
Fredericks turns 34 in June and made just five starts for struggling Wits this season. He came on as a substitute.
Fredericks’ career saw him win 14 caps for South Africa, scoring twice, and played in Switzerland and Russia, as well as for Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United.
He also has a record 35 caps at under-23 level.
