Pelembe staying put at Sundowns
Mamelodi Sundowns announced on Friday that Elias Pelembe signed a new three and a half year deal which will keep him with the Brazilians until the end of June 2015.
Speaking on the club’s official website, Pelembe said, “I am excited that I will be staying at Sundowns until 2015.
The media reports about my high salary demands are not true. I was always willing to compromise on my package because I want to finish my playing career at Sundowns.”
Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe said, “Sundowns is committed to paying competitive salaries as we always want to attract the best players. However we also have an obligation to all our players to ensure that the differences in salaries amongst our players are not significant.
Sundowns is also aware of its obligation to South African football to ensure that we do not to pay excessively high salaries.”
The club’s communications manager, Kabelo Mosito, said, “Our supporters are overjoyed with the news that one of our favourite players will continue to wear the Sandawana jersey for a long time to come”.
