Meyiwa extends his contract with Bucs
Orlando Pirates second-choice goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa, has extended his contract with the Soweto giants for a further two seasons.
Meyiwa's contract with Pirates expired at the end of June but the former Under-23 international will remain at Pirates for another two seasons. "I renewed my contract on Tuesday, after my meeting with the chairman, Irvin Khoza, and I'm very happy to stay at Pirates," said Meyiwa.
Asked about continuing to train and play for Pirates despite not having renewed his contract with the club, Meyiwa told SuperSport.com: "It isn't like I didn't know what was going on.
"I met the chairman way before my contract expired and he assured me that the club would renew my contract and that they were happy to keep me. He said I should wait until the end of the 2010 Fifa World Cup before we could sit down and finalise a new deal. He further promised that I would have a new contract before the start of the season."
The Umlazi-born goalkeeper was linked with a move to AmaZulu at the end of the season, following his lack of regular game time at Pirates.
Usuthu were reportedly interested in Meyiwa but they have since roped in Thembalethu Moses from FC Cape Town.
