AmaZulu duo frustrated

The closure of the transfer window period on Tuesday evening has brought more misery than joy for AmaZulu’s transfer-listed duo of goalie Nick Grande and striker Bradley Ritson.

The two players were hoping to secure employment after being deemed surplus to requirements when coach Neil Tovey was still in charge of the Durban side last season.

Incoming coach Manqoba Mngqithi only took striker Myron Shongwe off the transfer list, and signed up Free State-born forward Lehlohonolo Majoro and former FC Cape Town and Sundowns goalie Thembaluthu Moses.

Ritson told SuperSport.com that he is currently training on his own after failing to make the grade at Lamontville Golden Arrows.

Argentine-born Grande, whose penalty-shoot heroics against Sundowns saw AmaZulu advance to the Nedbank Cup finals, is twiddling his thumbs at home without a club approaching him.

“It’s bad man. I am a foreigner and have sacrificed a lot -- leaving my family behind to come and play in South Africa. Then all of a sudden I am told my services are no longer required. I don’t know what to do, because I still have two years in my contract with AmaZulu,” said Grande.

Ritson , who had six months left on his contract, has been handed his clearance and is a free agent. The former plumber did not enjoy a productive season in the 2009/10 campaign, after making his professional debut by netting nine times for the Usuthu.
