However, the clash of the day will be in Garoua where old time rivals Cotonsport of Garoua and Tonnerre Kalara Club of Yaounde will lock horns in a classical game.
The three newcomers in Elite One Tonnerre, Fovu of Baham and The Douala Athletics club will have tough nuts to crack on the first day against championship pace setters, while the very electric West regional derby between Panthere of the Nde and Unisport of Bafang will open the season in Banganté. Mean while only the draws for the first day of play were made because of a complex system, which will entail teams playing so many games at home or away if they were simply drawn from the lots. As such the head of the competitions committee of the League, former Indomitable lions coach Jules Nyongha told the clubs to go home and wait for the League to prepare the calendar for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, it was announced that the League Cup will go operational this year for professional clubs only, and the winner will represent the country at the Caf Confederations cup competition alongside the winner of the cup of Cameroon. Hitherto, the place was given to the winner of the FA Cup
