Tataw Stephen ex-captain of the Indomitable Lions has written a bitter open letter to the African legend. Cameroon’s soccer legend and roving ambassador, Roger Milla. The latter had launched the opening salvo recently when, in his usual criticisms of officials of the country’s FA,, described Tataw Stephen, his team mate of the legendary 1990 squad, as a beggar within Fecafoot.
In his open letter addressed to Roger Milla, Tataw recalls that Milla described him in a discussion a few weeks back as “a beggar with Fecafoot”, which injured his personality.
The 1990 Indomitable Lions captain states that while Milla’s football skills are recognized by all, his education and comportment as a roving ambassador leave much to be desired. He also reminded the African football legend that his insults at Fecafoot officials earned him his exit as Honorary President of the federation.
“The Cameroon football federation recognizes my intrinsic value. You will not stop me from pursuing my destiny… There is no comparison between you and me, socially and intellectually” he writes.
Tataw ends by advising Milla to surround himself with advisers who can help him grow in the future
Roger Milla, the country’s roving ambassador is getting back the spill over of his apparent jibes at football officials, including his former teammates. He lost his position as honorary president of the FA after describing officials of the federation as corrupt and inefficient, requesting the resignation of its President Iya Mohammed and the dissolution of the FA.
While many locals admit that Milla is taking a critical stand on the management of football in the country, they have picked holes in his lack of diplomacy in his public outburst. His apparent lack of tact in his media outings has enraged many football officials.
Besides his troubles with the country’s FA, Milla too has had sour relations with members of the Cameroon professional league (CPL), owing to his numerous threats to disrupt the league and his criticisms against the new body.
