Cameroon picks Chan team



The local national team of Cameroon has started preparations for the upcoming African Nations Championships Chan to take place in Sudan from February 4, 2011.

Some 25 pre selected players have been in camp at the National Technical Centre in Odja Yaounde and at the end of it two of the players will be dropped for the best 23 to represent the country at the bi- annual African football showpiece that will be in its second edition.

Head coach Emmanuel Doumbe Bosso noted in a press briefing that “only the best players horning their skills in the national championship have been selected for the expedition”. He continued that “ the national technical direction played an instrumental role in the choice of the players” Doumbe was reacting to criticism from journalists that some of the best players of the league were not selected to represent the country.

Douala based Mtn Elite 1 team Les Astres have the greatest number of players in the team eight in champions Coton Sport have four. Ndoumbe also decided to drop veteran Nicolas Alnoudji of Coton Sport who won the gold medal in football at the 2000 Olympic games but preferred Atem Valentine who plies his trade now with Tiko United after a spell in Ghana and Germany.

The team is undergoing an intensive training camp till the 22nd after which they will fly to Sudan to finalize preparations before the start of the African Nations Championships on February 4.
