TDF goes island-style in 2013

Organizers have revealed details of the 2013 Tour de France's first three stages, which will be on the island of Corsica.

The 100th edition of the race will start on June 29 with a 200-kilometre (124-mile) flat trek from Porto-Vecchio, along the coastline past the cliffs of Bonifacio, to the town of Bastia.

Climbers get the chance to test their legs the next day on a 155-kilometre (96.1-mile) trek from Bastia to Ajaccio, which features climbs up Col de Bellagranajo, Col de la Serra and Col de Vizzavona.

The third stage on July 1 features spectacular views over the Piana coves and takes riders over 145 kilometres (90 miles) from Ajaccio to Calvi.

The Tour had never previously visited the French island.
