Rabie loses lead at Tour of Morocco

After holding the lead since Stage 1 a week ago, South African Johann Rabie lost the Tour of Morocco race leader's Yellow Jersey by one second on Friday.

The 120km stage from Fes to Meknes wasn't without controversy. It ended up being 14km short, favouring the two Morrocan riders that were in the breakaway group. One of the two riders, Mouhssine Lahsaini, won the stage and had enough of a time gap on Rabie to relinquish him of the Yellow Jersey by one second.

Rabie's compatriot, Daryl Impey is equal on time to Rabie, making Saturday's penultimate stage over 150km from Azilal to Khouribga a crucial stage for the South African teams to challenge for the title. Another South African, Arran Brown, is the leader in the Green Jersey Points Competition.

The 10-day tour ends in Casablanca on Sunday.
