CAS sets dates for Katusha, Macchi appeal

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has set appeal dates in the cycling cases of Russian team Kathusha and Italian Paralympics medalist Fabrizio Macchi.

Katusha is challenging the International Cycling Union's refusal to give the team top-tier status in 2013 and automatic entry to World Tour races.

CAS says the appeal will be heard February 8.

The Italian Olympic committee's anti-doping prosecutor appealed after Macchi was cleared of doping allegations. An Italian tribunal had been recommended to suspend him for eight months for working with banned sports doctor Michele Ferrari, a long-time consultant to Lance Armstrong.

CAs has set Macchi's case for March 13.

The 42-year-old rider, whose left leg was amputated at age 16, won a bronze medal in pursuit at the 2004 Athens Paralympics.
