Team Sky head coach Shane Sutton steps down
Team Sky head coach Shane Sutton has left his job and moved into an advisory role with the British outfit.
No explanation was given for Sutton's decision, which emerged only on Friday when his profile on the team's website changed to say he was "stepping back from a day-to-day role within the team."
The Australian helped Bradley Wiggins win the Tour de France for the first time in July.
Explaining his new role, Sutton says he is "working in a support role alongside Dave (Brailsford, the team principal) as an adviser and a troubleshooter."
Sutton is the latest senior figure to leave Team Sky in recent months, with lead sports director Sean Yates exiting in October.
Sutton remains head coach of the British Cycling governing body.
