Gerrans heads Aussie challenge

Defending champion Simon Gerrans will lead the Australian challenge at cycling's Tour Down Under when the first event of the 2013 ProTour begins Sunday.

Gerrans was named on Monday as a member of the Australian Orica-GreenEDGE team which will contest the six-stage road race around Adelaide in South Australia.

The 22-year-old began a strong 2012 season at the Tour Down Under, also winning the Australian national road championships and the one-day Milan-San Remo race.

Current Australian road race champion Luke Durbridge was also named in the GreenEDGE lineup.
