Greipel eyes Down Under hat-trick

German sprint star Andre Greipel will vie for a third Tour Down Under victory when he returns to Australia this month with the Lotto Belisol team, organisers said on Thursday.

Race director Mike Turtur said Lotto Belisol would be one of the strongest teams in the Tour, raced around Adelaide in South Australia.

"Greipel is part of an elite group of three riders to have won the Tour Down Under twice, and was first across the finish line in three stages of last year's race," Turtur said.

"He notched up more wins at the Tour de France, where he took out three stages, and looks set to bring his impressive form into the new UCI WorldTour season."

Joining Greipel, 30, in the Lotto Belisol team will be Australian Adam Hansen, New Zealand's Greg Henderson, German Marcel Sieberg and Belgian riders Olivier Kaisen, Jurgen Roelandts and Tim Wellens.

The six-stage Tour Down Under takes place from January 20 to 27.
