Spanish cyclist killed in accident



Former Spanish mountain bike champion Inaki Lejarreta was killed when he was hit by a car while biking, according to Spanish media reports on Sunday. He was 29 years old.

Lejarreta was reportedly riding his bike in the town of Iurreta in the northern Basque region when he was hit by the car.

Lejarreta was Spain's mountain bike champion in 2007, and participated in cross country cycling at the 2008 Olympics.

He competed professionally with the Orbea team.

He was the nephew of cyclist Marino Lejarreta, who won the Spanish Vuelta in 1982.
