Voeckler third Frenchman to win Fleche

Thomas Voeckler became only the third French cyclist to win the one day Fleche Brabanconne race in Belgium on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old, who wore the Tour de France overall leader's yellow jersey for a large part of last year's race, came home clear of Spain's three-time world road race champion Oscar Freire while Pieter Serry of Belgium was third.

Voeckler, eighth in the one day classic the Tour of Flanders 10 days ago, went on the attack 32km from the finish and came home over a minute ahead of his nearest pursuers.
