Spanish race cut from women's WC calendar
The International Cycling Union says the Spanish race on the nine-event Women's Road World Cup calendar has been canceled for financial reasons.
The UCI says the Ciudad de Valladolid race scheduled on June 3 could return next year.
UCI President Pat McQuaid says "we would dearly like to help find a solution to this problem for the future."
Spanish race organisers have struggled this year to meet financial commitments to their events.
The UCI said last month it would help find support for two men's World Tour events after cutbacks in Basque regional government spending.
The Tour of the Basque Country in April and the San Sebastian Classic in August are expected to go ahead as planned.
