Next year's Giro to start in Turin and finish in Milan

The 2011 Giro d'Italia will start with a team time trial in Turin on May 7 and end with an individual time trial in Milan on May 29, organisers said in a statement on Friday.

Milan is a traditional finishing point but was overlooked this year after a debacle in 2009, when riders refused to race because of unsafe tramlines and parked cars in a mid-race stage.

The rest of the 2011 route will be announced in due course.

Talks are ongoing for the world's second biggest stage race, which has been dogged by doping scandals in recent years, to start in Washington, United States, in 2012.
