Chavanel forced out San Sebastian Classic

Sylvain Chavanel, who wore the Tour de France yellow jersey for two days, has pulled out of Saturday's San Sebastian Classic suffering from an infected toe, his Quick Step team said.

"I had this problem in the last days of the Tour," said Chavanel, who won two stages on this year's Tour de France which finished last weekend.

"The foot swelled up and I can't compete in a high level race like the Classic."
