Spanish Vuelta champion Alejandro Valverde won't race again this year after deciding to end his season early.

The Caisse D'Epargne rider will skip two French races - Paris-Bourges and Paris-Tours - next week to focus on 2010.

"Now, I need to rest a little bit, physically and mentally, before I think in the next season and start training again," he said.

The French team said that Valverde would take part in several criteriums in the following weeks, however.
